Walsh Family Charities

The Walsh Family Charities was formed to aid in breast cancer research. Together with your support, the charity has donated over $340,000 to breast cancer research and prevention at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Maimonides Cancer Center under the direction of Dr. Patrick Borgen, MD.

Every St. Patrick's Day, the foundation holds a fund raising event to provide charitable contributions that will go directly to breast cancer research. This year our fundraising efforts will be used for an exciting new technology called Breast Specific Gamma Imaging. This new imaging does not involve exposure to radiation and will not only improve upon early detection of breast cancers, but will enable the physician to determine if a particular chemotherapy treatment is in fact shrinking the cancer. The Brooklyn Breast Cancer Program joins the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins and George Washington University in being among the first centers with access to this technology. Click here to view an article on this new breast cancer imaging.

The majority of funding for the Walsh Family Charities is derived from the St. Patrick's Day event. We owe a great deal of gratitude to the many insurance companies, industry professionals and friends who have donated their time and money to a great cause.
