Qualcare Broker Brief: Changes to Your 2016 ACA Fees


Taxes and Fees

Effective January 1, 2014, ACA required certain fees to be paid by all employers, including health insurance issuers and self-funded group health plans.  These fees are not built into your current healthcare fees and are listed as additional fees on your monthly healthcare invoice.  Effective January 1, 2016, these fees were adjusted to reflect the new amounts required by ACA.
•    Transitional Reinsurance Program.  The 2016 Fees are as follows: $2.25 for Single, $4.50 for EE+Spouse, $5.98 for EE+Child(ren), and $9.15 for Family.
•    Health Insurer Fee (HIF).  The 2016 fee was calculated as 1.90% of total healthcare fees, no change from 2015.
